Wooden Cask Brewing Company

Wooden Cask Brewing Company is a Newport brewpub that has specialized in traditional European-style beer for more than a decade. It is owned and run by Randy and Karen Schiltz. Randy’s interest in European beer began years ago in the Navy, when his first beer was a classic English mild ale. Wanting to recreate it, he took up homebrewing in 1998 and has spent the years since refining traditional European brewing methods. Wooden Cask is the couple’s second brewery; they spent more than a year looking for the right location before they started brewing again. As Northern Kentucky residents, the Schiltzes are committed to their community. The brewery is a stop on the Newport Gangster Tour, it is deliberately not a sports bar, and it keeps stouts on tap all year, which it notes is unusual. Wooden Cask also hosts private events and has a second spot on York Street.
