West Sixth Brewing Co

West Sixth Brewing was founded in Lexington in 2012 and is based in the Bread Box, a century-old building that once housed the Rainbo Bread Factory. The brewery brews, cans and bottles its beer there and sells it at bars, restaurants and stores across Kentucky and in Cincinnati. Its owners found that the Bread Box became much more than a home for the brewery: it grew into a mixed-use urban project where businesses, nonprofits and community groups work side by side. West Sixth puts weight on having a positive effect on its community, hosts happy hours for local nonprofits and shares the history of Smithtown, its neighborhood, a Black community dating to 1867. The lineup runs from year-round beers and seasonals to a rotating IPA series, limited releases and a County Series. West Sixth also runs a farm taproom near Frankfort and a Louisville taproom in NuLu.
